Local Favorite - 8.2.0 (Bar & Restaurant)

8.2.0 is a bar/ restaurant in the AvidXchange Music Factory next door to one of my favorite spots, VBGB. The owners of VBGB, Tom and Kara Tadeo, came up with a new space for the people of Charlotte and named it 8.2.0. Since opening last year, it has definitely taken over the karaoke scene in Charlotte. The epic karaoke room hosted by local Charlotte actors is just one of 5 unique things you will find here, though.
This is a sponsored post by 8.2.0. All statements and opinions are my own.

Originally from NYC, Kara and Tom experienced many different concepts and wanted to bring that part of their lives to Charlotte. They wanted to create an indoor entertainment lounge that offers many different things to do. Sharing VBGB’s parking lot, the first thing you will notice is the brick exterior with unique artwork. One of my favorite things is the retro walk up pizza slice window. Once entering, you will notice careful detail to the interior design. The lights on the ceiling in the main bar are absolutely stunning, and I am smitten with what I consider to be an urban loft style vibe. There are two main bars that feature cocktails, Prosecco and Pure Intentions coffee on DRAFT.  If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s also Bursting Boba Cocktails (what?!) local beers, spirits and wines to choose from. Something else you’ll notice when you first walk in is the vintage game arcade. If you are pining for the days of pinball, Pacman and claw machines, this room is for you. Aside from the karaoke and arcade rooms, there are two large event rooms and a secret library room lounge with dim lighting that feels very Al Capone-esque. You’ll have to ask an employee or hope to bump into a regular of 8.2.0 to find out how to get in. All of these things are really cool, but I think the dark horse of this place is the food. It’s a simple menu with classic things like pizza, meatballs and salads, but there is something so different about how they do them. Everything is made in house, which I love to hear. We tried the side salads with house made dressings, the twice fried pomme frites with 3 dipping sauces (try the smores sauce!!) and the Gigi pizza slice, which was incredible. The foldable crust, extra sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, and basil was perfection. I could have eaten like 5 more slices. Glad I didn’t though, because I needed room for the Cauli-Balls, one of my favorite things on the menu. They are vegetarian, loaded with mozzarella, lightly breaded and fried. You can choose any of their long list of dips/sauces and we went with Tomato Vodka. It was the perfect pair. They come with a homemade breadstick. There’s also regular meatballs if you aren’t into the veggie type, but trust me when I say even a meat lover will devour these babies. I would dare say these are a hidden gem in Charlotte. If the weather is nice outside, there’s a quaint little patio to get some fresh air while you’re hanging out, too. I have to say 8.2.0 is a great spot to meet with friends after work and destress, to have a unique date night, or to celebrate a birthday. It’s the venue of many faces and can be great for so many different occasions.
