Local Favorites - Hello, Sailor

  

A few weeks ago we finally made a trip to Cornelius (about 20-30 min drive from Charlotte) to experience the restaurant everyone has been talking about, Hello, Sailor. It was everything I wanted and more. The style and decor whisk you into a world of retro 'desert chic' vibes filled with plants, natural light, muted colors and leather and rattan textures.

There are two options for outdoor seating on the marina, and that's an uncovered patio or the covered patio. We opted to sit in the covered section and truly enjoyed the experience. As we waited for our drinks and food, we were able to watch boats coming in to dock, feel the breeze on a warm afternoon, and take in the surroundings. The service was really great, and the server went above and beyond with helping me choose from the best dishes based on my dietary needs. The Citrus Crab Louie salad was flying out of the kitchen to every table left and right and looked so refreshing I couldn't help but choose it myself. I got mine sans the brown butter saltines and ranch style dressing it comes with and opted for oil and balsamic vinegar which also made the perfect pair! I loved the stars of the toppings which were avocado, a soft boiled egg, and citrus slices. 


We started with the Watermelon side dish that comes drizzled with a chili oil and seasonings and that was out of this world!! It was a great combination of sweet and spicy. One of the other dishes our table ordered was the Florida Blue Crab Claws that come with a wasabi tobiko mayonnaise and green coriander. Staff tip: The messier the sauce gets, the better the taste gets. In other words, mix it all together and dip it well before taking a bite! 

 

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Hello, Sailor and will definitely be back again in the future. There are a lot of other menu options we want to try!
